2011 Coaches |
Dan Madden will again be the senior coach, in his fourth season at the club. Before his first season, the club dropped from D1 to D2, but has held stead since he took over in 2008.
Madden’s coaching philosophies have strengthened since day one, and 2011 seems the year where everything has clicked for the boys. The game plan and specific structures devised by Madden have set Therry’s style of play, not just in the ones but all the way through down to the under 18s.
This season, with so much youth through the club, the boys are set to challenge for the Division 2 premiership and move up into D1, and hopefully on the march into the premier divisions.
Madden also teaches at Penola Catholic College.
Tony McAuliffe will coach the reserves again this season. "Donuts" as he's known, was a former player and reserves coach, before moving in as an senior assistant to Dan Madden. In 2010, he coached the reserves to finals, but 2011 seems the year where the twos are at the foot of a premiership. Anthony McMahon will captain the side, and also act as an assistant to Tony.
Ashley Mills will this year take over as the Under 19s coach, after 2 years as playing assistant to Dan Madden. Millsy has hung up the boots on a decorated career with Therry to head the Under 19s team, and his aim is to develop these young men into players who can transition straight into senior footy.
Ash takes over from Rodney Egglestone, who will coach the Under 18 team in 2011. Rodney played over 300 games for the club, and coached the Under 19s to two grand finals in 2010 and 2009, narrowly losing last year's flag by a point. Rodney has some very young and talented kids at his disposal, and will be hoping to provide Millsy with some young stars to push up into the Under 19s.
Both Ash and Rodney have high expectations, and the aim is that both the Under 19s and Under 18s will play finals in 2011.
Bob Lyons will again coach the thirds side. With so much depth in the ones and twos, the thirds have an overflow of numbers, which should result in much success. All but one player from last year's under 19s have moved up to senior footy, meaning youth and speed has been injected to all senior teams. The thirds will be aiming for finals in 2011.
